Force and Motion

Force and Motion

Overview

Key Idea 1: Any object will stay at rest, or move at a constant speed in a straight line, unless acted upon by an outside force.

Key Idea 2: To change the speed or direction of motion of any object, an unbalanced force must act on that object.

Key Idea 3: Every object exerts a gravitational force on every other object. The strength of this force depends on the mass of the two objects and the distance between them.

Key Idea 4: Energy appears in different forms. Most of what goes in the universe involves some form of energy being transformed into another.

Key Idea 5: Simple machines are devices that allow people to alter that mount of force needed to do various kinds of work be changing the distance moved.
